Autodesk to Acquire Cloud Based Estimating Company ProEst

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 16, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has officially announced its acquisition of ProEst, a leading cloud-based estimating platform designed to help construction teams streamline the estimation process. With this move, Autodesk aims to enhance its Autodesk Construction Cloud, a comprehensive construction management solution that connects teams, data, and workflows throughout the entire building lifecycle. The integration of ProEst into Autodesk Construction Cloud is expected to significantly strengthen its preconstruction capabilities, allowing teams to manage both preconstruction and construction workflows on a single, unified platform. This strategic acquisition will help reduce inefficiencies, improve accuracy, and support better decision-making across the project lifecycle. ProEst, used by major construction firms like Geisinger, O’Brien Construction, Vantis, and Oswald, enables users to quickly convert project drawings, specifications, and models into accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment. This not only speeds up the bidding process but also helps minimize risks and increase the likelihood of winning contracts. The cloud-based nature of ProEst allows teams to access and share estimating data from anywhere, at any time, and integrate third-party cost databases to further optimize their workflows. “Autodesk Construction Cloud has been instrumental in helping us manage our projects more efficiently,” said Luis Berumen, vice president of innovation and technology at Bartlett Cocke General Contractors. “Adding ProEst’s estimating capabilities to the platform will further enhance our ability to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.” Manny Innamorato, chief information officer at the New York City School Construction Authority, added, “ProEst has allowed us to produce more accurate and consistent estimates throughout the design process. By integrating it with Autodesk Construction Cloud, we can ensure better alignment between our estimation data and downstream construction activities, which is essential for meeting our mission of building safe, modern schools in a cost-effective way.” With this acquisition, Autodesk continues to expand its portfolio of construction solutions, including Autodesk Takeoff, BIM Collaborate, Build, and BuildingConnected. These tools are designed to improve collaboration, reduce rework, and accelerate project delivery. Jim Lynch, senior vice president and general manager of Autodesk Construction Solutions, emphasized the importance of connecting accurate estimates with broader project data. “Estimation is a critical phase that often remains disconnected from other construction processes. By bringing ProEst into the Autodesk ecosystem, we aim to eliminate errors, reduce delays, and ensure more successful project outcomes.” Jeff Gerardi, founder and CEO of ProEst, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “We’ve always aimed to revolutionize construction estimating, and joining forces with Autodesk brings us one step closer to achieving that goal. Their vision of end-to-end construction connectivity aligns perfectly with our own, and we’re excited to contribute our best-in-class solution to their platform.” In recent years, Autodesk has made several strategic acquisitions, including Assemble, BuildingConnected, PlanGrid, and Pype, as part of its ongoing commitment to advancing construction technology. The ProEst acquisition is another step in this journey, reinforcing Autodesk’s leadership in digital construction solutions. The transaction is expected to close during Autodesk’s fourth quarter of fiscal 2022, ending January 31, 2022. It will not have a material impact on the company’s financial guidance for the period. Autodesk is a global leader in design and engineering software, empowering professionals across industries to innovate and solve complex challenges. From sustainable architecture to advanced manufacturing, Autodesk continues to shape the future of how the world is built and created.
